Ελληνοκύπριος συνθέτης και στιχουργός. Γεννήθηκε στη Λεμεσό. Ασχολήθηκε με τη μουσική από τα μαθητικά του χρόνια. Η τουρκική εισβολή του 1974 τον βρίσκει φαντάρο. Βαθύτατα πολιτικοποιημένος, ο Μάριος Τόκας άρχισε να γυρίζει από πόλη σε πόλη κάνοντας συναυλίες προτού ακόμα αρχίσει τις σπουδές του στην Αθήνα.
Το 1981, σε μία τολμηρή, για τα δεδομένα της εποχής, κίνηση μελοποίησε το ποίημα της 19χρόνης, τότε, Τουρκοκύπριας Νεσιέ Γιασίν με τίτλο «Η Δική μου η Πατρίδα», σε μετάφραση της Έλλης Παιονίδου. Το τραγούδι αυτό αποτελεί σύμβολο της ενότητας μεταξύ των ανθρώπων και ερμηνεύτηκε με μοναδικό τρόπο από τον Γιώργο Νταλάρα.
