Ο Λουί Αραγκόν ήταν Γάλλος ποιητής, μυθιστοριογράφος και δημοσιογράφος και για πολλά χρόνια μέλος του Γαλλικού Κομμουνιστικού Κόμματος. H γνωριμία και η στενή φιλία με το ζεύγος Παιονίδης ξεκίνησε το 19780 όπου τους έστειλε επιστολή ζητώντας τους τη διεύθυνση του Ευρυβιάδη Ρένου Wideson για μια φωτοφραφία. Αργότερα τους φιλοξένησε στη Τουλόν της Γαλλίας ενώ το 1981 τον φιλοξένησαν οι ίδιοι στη Κύπρο.
