Ο Ινιάτσιο Μπουτίτα ήταν Ιταλός ποιητής. Ανάμεσα στους σύγχρονους ποιητές που αποφάσισαν να εκφραστούν στη σικελική διάλεκτο, ο Μπουττίττα είναι ο πιο γνωστός τόσο στη Σικελία όσο και στην υπόλοιπη Ιταλία. Το έργο του επεξηγεί με στίχους έναν ολόκληρο αιώνα κοινωνικής, πολιτικής, πολιτισμικής ιστορίας της Σικελίας, αφιερωμένος ξεκάθαρα και ριζωμένος στις αιτίες και τις συνέπειες της οικονομικής στέρησης των κατώτερων τάξεων. Ο Μπουττίττα έζησε στην πρώτη γραμμή: τους αγροτικούς αγώνες, τους δυο πολέμους, τον αντιφασισμό, τη μάχη ενάντια στη μαφία και τη μεταπολεμική πολιτική τάξη. Αυτός κατανοούσε με σαφήνεια, και ζούσε με αποφασιστικότητα, τη λογοτεχνία ως όραμα που έχει λογική, συναίσθηση του ακροατή, του αναγνώστη, άρα μελέτη για δράση στην πραγματικότητα.
Με το ζεύγος Παιονίδη γνωρίστηκαν στη Μόσχα στο Συνέδριο Συγγραφέων περίπου το 1980.
