Ο Adrian Mitchell ήταν Άγγλος ποιητής, μυθιστοριογράφος και θεατρικός συγγραφέας. Πρώην δημοσιογράφος, έγινε γνωστή προσωπικότητα της βρετανικής αριστεράς. Για σχεδόν μισό αιώνα ήταν ο κορυφαίος ποιητής του κινήματος Campaign for Nuclear Αφοπλισμός της χώρας. Με το ζεύγος Παιονίδη γνωρίστηκαν στις συναντήσεις συγγραφέων της Σόφιας και έγιναν πολύ καλοί φίλοι. Τους φιλοξένησε στο σπίτι τους στην Αγγλία και αυτοί στο σπίτι της κόρης του Μελίνα στην Αθήνα.
